Car free day 2011 in Tallinn

The annual Car Free Day is opened on Vabaduse väljak on Sunday, 18 September. The use of bicycles as a healthy and clean alternative to cars is emphasised on the Car Free Day this year. People interested in cycling are offered two routes: Põhja-Tallinn–Haabersti–Mustamäe, or Kadriorg–Lasnamäe–Pirita. The tour includes stops by objects of interest and introduces the playgrounds of Tallinn. Sports Club Liikumine will help people who love walking with their project “Walk! Walking Is Healthy”, which takes them on a walking tour around the Old Town. During the Car Free Day, people can have their body fat percentage, blood pressure and other health indicators measured and obtain general information about exercise and healthy living. There are also plans to lend step counters to people.

The Car Free Day in Tallinn is organised by the Tallinn Environment Department.
